Accessibility statement for the London Imaging Academy online learning platform
This accessibility statement applies to londonimagingacademy.org.uk and nweita.org.uk.
These website domains connect to the same online learning management system which is run by the London Imaging Academy project team on behalf of NHS England. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
- Most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- Not all video recordings have captions enabled
- Some buttons cannot be accessed via keyboard only controls

Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The London Imaging Academy is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
(b) This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
2.1.1 Keyboard Accessible – there are some buttons that are not accessible by keyboard only controls
2.4.13 Focus Appearance (AAA) – focus indicator is not always of sufficient contrast
The London Imaging Academy online learning platform is a Moodle Workplace based platform which is only currently Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 compliant. This is the main list of Moodle accessibility issues, organised by priority. This list is always changing.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
We plan to add text alternatives for all images by December 2025. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
Some video recordings do not have captions, this fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.2.2 (Captions pre-recorded level A).
We plan to add captions to all pre-recorded video content by September 2025. When we publish new pre-recorded video, we’ll make sure captions are added to meet accessibility standards within 2 weeks of uploading the content.
Navigation and accessing information
Keyboard Accessible – there are some buttons that are not accessible by keyboard only controls. This fails WCAG 2.1.1 success criterion for keyboard accessibility. We are currently limited by Moodle Workplace functionality which prevents access to some tabs on the learning platform through keyboard only navigation.
We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing information. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment when the supplier contract is up for renewal, likely to be in April 2026.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Live video
Live video streams do not take place on our website, for courses which contain live video streams captions will be added wherever possible. Live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
- We are adding captions to all video content on the platform and aim to complete this by September 2025.
- We are adding descriptions to all images on the platform and aim to complete this by December 2025.
- We are amending the contrast of the focus indicator to ensure it is high contrast and aim to complete this by May 2025.
